OSHA Safety Regulations for Employees

The mission of the Occupational safety and Health Administration is to ensure the safety and well being of workers. This agency was established after the Occupational and Health Act was enacted in 1970. As per OSHA, the employers are legally obligated to inform their employees about the OSHA standards. Also, the employees should be informed of all the hazardous materials they are supposed to be working with. All employees have a right to obtain records of work-related illnesses and injuries from their employers. Employees are encouraged to cooperate with their employers and maintain a safe work environment. They should inform the employer in case of any hazard. Usage and Safety Training for Forklifts

Extremely heavy pieces of equipment are referred to as forklifts. An average stand-up forklift weighs anywhere from 7000 to 9000 pounds. The sit-down forklifts weigh much more than that. The extremely heavy weight of forklifts has made OSHA come up with safety standards in terms of forklifts. This has been done with a view of keeping everybody working on and around forklifts safe and secure. Anybody driving a forklift should consider safety as their number one priority. The workers working with these equipments should be careful about where they place their hands and feet. All pinch points should be avoided.
